Everybody loves a tasty old Hungarian meal and culinary delights. As well as us. At the same time, we would like to maintain a healthy lifestyle, without putting too much weight on, so our menu offer was created bearing this in mind, making sure that our guests will not only leave with a great culinary experience in a pleasant atmosphere, but also with their mind at rest that they maintained their general well-being at Bártfai. We have pledged to ensure that all produce we use will be sourced only from Hungarian suppliers, to guarantee high quality performance in a Hungarian kitchen. This means, not only the vegetables but all the meat products are also ordered directly from the small farmers, where the animals keepings and nutritional well beings are controlled and monitored.
Old Hungarian traditional dishes – that have a very unique culture – can only be changed and transformed with great care, in order not to loose their halo. Hungarian literature faithfully follows the gastronomic atmosphere of the old ages and our wish to present this heritage to our guests in a credible, authentic, yet in a modern way. In some cases, it isn ́t just expected, but also obligatory to adapt recipes and serve the dishes according to today ́s needs. Nowadays – those who go to restaurants – aren ́t looking for plenty of calories in their meal, but rather looking for flavours, hoping to try several dishes, hence we reduced the food ́s carbohydrate content, to a level, where they still preserve the feel of the rural flavours of the old ages and without feeling heavy in the stomach afterwards.
"My dear friend Vendelin, make sure that the croutons are made from bread, not from a roll, as rolls are not suitable for this matter. And they need to be burning hot, just like my darling ́s heart!"
– Zoltán Latinovits (Szindbád)
We are trying to meet the challenges of the age, so we offer a variety of dishes that are designed to cater to those suffering from food allergies, which are also healthy, rich in protein and nutrients, as well as in vegetable fibers. Traditional Hungarian food was tailored to the needs of the physical workers, so we reduced its carbohydrate content by replacing some of the elements to fiber-rich vegetables and cereals.
Our menu doesn ́t just feature the favorite dishes of Hungarian artists, but what makes it stand out, is that some of these dishes can also be tried in gluten and lactose free form.
Our wines come from the most authentic wineries, as one of the most important accompany of good Hungarian food is a high quality, traditional Hungarian wine of many varieties.
We follow the current progress of breweries, coffee distributors, palinka makers and winemakers, to bring our best drinks to our guests in Bartfai according to their developments and quality criteria.
